I took this funny quiz after seeing it on a friend’s blog. It seems pretty right on–I don’t think I have an accent at all. Funny, though, I think they should have included a “Utah accent” as one of the options
People in Utah have an accent where the words “sale” and “sell” both sound the same. I have lived here since I was 2, but somehow I avoided the Utah accent. I have already heard Emma say some words with a Utah accent. The way she says “mountains” with a big accent on “ains”. I keep correcting her
| What American accent do you have?
Your Result: The West
Your accent is the lowest common denominator of American speech. Unless you’re a SoCal surfer, no one thinks you have an accent. And really, you may not even be from the West at all, you could easily be from Florida or one of those big Southern cities like Dallas or Atlanta. |
