Music Together

Nora missed a few Music Together classes over the last few weeks because of all of her illnesses. I signed her up for a make up today, and Ian came a long with us. Ian’s old teacher, Miss Kristie, was the teacher for this class. He was really happy to see her, and she was happy to see him. It was really a cute reunion!

He had a great time at the class. I was stunned at how much older he seemed. He just sat next to me and sang and followed all the music and dances. I felt like we had come a full circle since he started Music Together. When Ian first started he was a wild man. He rarely sat down, and he was usually running and dancing all around the room. At times, he tried my patience and I wondered if he was getting anything at all out of the class. Miss Kristie was always so positive, and just encouraged me to keep singing and having fun. Not the easiest thing to do when your child is the only one running around like crazy.

Today, and the last few classes, Nora has been that child ;-) Now Nora has no interest in sitting with me. That quiet, calm baby is gone. Last week there were a lot of younger babies in the class. Nora spent most of the class poking the babies, and trying to take their toys. She got into one of the moms diaper bags and found a bottle. She grabbed it and started drinking it as she ran away. I was so frustrated and I felt those old feelings again, wondering if she is getting anything out of the class. Bringing Ian to class today gave me hope. He did get something out of the class. He has great memories–he loves the songs and he loved his teacher. Seeing Ian today just reaffirmed for me why I should keep bringing Nora, and that she IS getting something out of it.

I think it’s just THE BEST to see kids make a change like that! Ian seems like such a wonderful, well rounded kid! :)
