I love our hot tub!

I read an article today in Parenting Magazine that was interesting. It said that when asked, most moms said they LOVED being a mom. They said that it was the best thing that ever happened to them and that they were incredibly happy. However, when the questions were asked another way, they discovered that most women thought that the everyday mundane part of taking care of kids was difficult, and really not all that great. I thought it was an interesting idea. I mean, it is kind of true. Asking Emma to get dressed 20 times when we are trying to get out the door to school on time isn’t really all that much fun. But, there are those great moments together that outshine all the difficult ones. Like today, when Emma sat at the counter with her markers and paper. She really loves to draw lately. She can spend hours doing it. She drew the cutest picture of our family today. It was all stick figures, and she drew Nora in my arms. I wouldn’t trade my kids for anything, I love being a mom ;-)

The article also talked about how the first 3 years are the hardest and most demanding. It said that during those 3 years it is really important to take time to nurture your relationship with your spouse, because those first 3 years can really take a toll on your marriage. I think that Scott and I do a good job of that. I really love our time together in our hot tub. I think it has been a great purchase, and something that is really great for us. It is so nice to go out there after the kids are in bed and just spend some time together relaxing and talking with nothing else stealing our attention.

We just came in from sitting out there. It is starting to feel like winter outside. It was only about 25 degrees, but the water was perfect at 102 degrees. The sky was clear and we just sat there looking at the stars. Scott saw a shooting star. We just chatted and sat together and cuddled. It was so nice to just sit and connect and talk like adults, without little ones interrupting :-)
