Gingerbread houses

IMG_0577-blog

We went to Costco the other day to stock up for the trip. While we were there we saw these cute gingerbread house kits. I thought they would be a fun rainy day activity. The kids, on the other hand, thought that we should do them immediately. They have been asking to do them at least 10 times a day since we got them.

Even though the weather was beautiful, I finally relented and let the kids decorate them.

Ian was really into it. He didn’t want any help. He just wanted to do it all himself. He was really gung ho at the beginning. He put tons of frosting on the roof, but not much candy. I think he liked playing with the icing bag the most.

His decorating quickly deteriorated to mostly just eating the icing and candy.

Emma had a lot of help from Nana. She was very particular about how each piece of candy was placed. She liked looking at the box and trying to replicate what the example looked like. IMG_0635-blog

Nora was sleeping for most of the decorating. She woke up just in time to eat one of the gingerbread cookies. IMG_0646-blog

It was a fun activity and they turned out really cute! IMG_0684-blog
