Ian has been wanting to try to ride his bike without training wheels for quite a while now.
We decided that today was the day to give it a go. We wanted to make sure he was all protected. We had knee and elbow pads, but we didn’t really have anything to protect his hands. Off we went to Wal-Mart to get some biking gloves. They didn’t have any, but we thought the kids garden gloves would work fine.
We took his bike and went to the local elementary school so he would have a big open space to ride.
He got all dressed in his pads and couldn’t wait to hop on the bike. It lasted about 3 minutes.
He got on and pedaled while Scott held the back of the seat. He never seemed to quite get his balance, so Scott didn’t let him go. He pedaled about 5 times, and then said he was tired. I wanted to have a turn, so I held the seat for him while he pedaled about 3 more times. He got off and walked over to the playground. He was totally done.
I guess he wasn’t quite ready to try
I got the whole thing on video, but I didn’t take any still shots.
