Forest Creek

I could swear I wrote another post, but I don’t see it?!? Maybe it is my pregnant brain?

We made it to NC on time, after all. I called our roofer at 7:00am, and he came right away. How awesome was that? He found that a flange around one of the plumbing pipes had gotten crushed by snow. So, the water was just leaking down the pipe. He got it fixed, but we need to put some heat tape or something up there to prevent more ice dams from forming.

The weather here has been fantastic. I have been loving spring. I have worn sandals and capris every day. The kids are loving playing in the backyard. I brought some bubbles, and they have LOVED them. Ian LOVES playing golf. He is a fanatic. He loves swinging the club and hitting the ball, and just being out there. I am amazed at how much he likes it. My dad is in heaven!! He is so excited to see him so interested.

Emma has been really challenging lately. I am sure it is just a phase, but it is sure trying my patience. She had lots of tantrums, and doesn’t listen. Today she ran out onto the golf course. I warned her to come back, but she just looked at me and kept running. I counted to 3, and she still didn’t come back. I went and got her and made her sit in time out on the bed in the guest room. She would NOT stay there–which is what she usually does when I put her in time out. I stood there and put her back on the bed about 40 times. She finally got it, but it was so trying and challenging for me. I think she needs to have more time outs, and she needs to stay there when she gets a time out. After it was over, we had a big talk so she knew what she was there for, and I gave her a hug and told her I loved her. I just hope that she gets over it soon. It has been HARD!!

One thing I am trying to do, is spend more time with her. I think that I get too caught up in other things like checking my email, and reading magazines, and other “me” things. I need to make more of an effort to PLAY with the kids. Especially now while we are on vacation. I have more time to devote to them, and less jobs and things that really need to be done. But, sometimes I find it hard, and I just want to do my own things. As long as I am trying and making an effort, I know that will be better.

Tonight Scott is coming back :-) Tomorrow I am playing in a member member tourney at Forest Creek. I wasn’t going to play, but Mom really wanted me to. Scott will be here, and he said he would like to spend the time with the kids. So, that will work out nicely. I am kind of excited about playing. I hope that I play decent!

I am off to bed, I am going to watch some more of Grey’s Anatomy. I got the whole first season on DVD, and I am loving it!

iritis

Back from Forest Creek! We had a really nice trip, Scott got to play tons of golf. I was sick almost the whole time. Ugh. When we got there I got a really bad cold. I felt really lousy, with a sore throat and a runny nose. I think I got it from Emma. But, we had really nice weather the whole time. It was in the 50′s and 60′s most days. I played golf one day–and of course I picked the coldest one we had!

I also got an eye infection while we were there. I started having pain in my right eye last Friday, the day I went to my eye doctor appointment. I didn’t think it was any big deal, so I didn’t say anything about it that day. But, it started to get worse, and it was a weird pain that I had never felt before. I decided to go to see someone on Wednesday in Southern Pines. The doctor I saw was so nice. He diagnosed me with Iritis, and said that it is from my Ankylosing Spondylitis–which is kind of what I was thinking. I have been putting a steroid drop in my eye 6X per day. It really doesn’t seem to be getting much better, but I guess it takes time. I have to call Dr. Fassio first thing tomorrow am to see him.

I am happy to be home, even though we had a good trip. I have a lot of things I want to do at home. I can’t wait to decorate the house for Christmas. I am thinking I might have Scott get the boxes down today. I ‘d like to get our Christmas tree this week.

I also can’t wait to finish the nursery! I will go buy the bedding this week, and pick out the paint color. I need to get the furniture out of there, and then paint. And, I need to have Emma’s furniture delivered, buy her mattresses, and bedding, and switch her over to her new bed. I think that I found the bedding I want for her. It is a retired Pottery Barn Kids pattern called Michelle. But, the only place I can find it is on eBay, and it isn’t cheap!

I also need to get our Christmas card picture taken, and write a note to put in with the cards.

All of this is making me think I should get off the computer and get to work ;-)

We had a nice Thanksgiving in Forest Creek. My mom and I cooked and we made all of my favorite things! We had potatoes romanoff, sweet potatoes, German green beans, cranberry sauce, and of course turkey. Bryan was there the whole week, too. It was nice to spend time with him, and Nadia didn’t come!!! YAY!!! It sounds like they may really be finished now, but we will see. Scott and Bryan had a lot of fun together.

It was a nice trip and a nice holiday. But, I am glad to be home :-)
