This week’s theme is hats. As soon as I heard the theme, I knew this was the photo I wanted to post.

This week’s theme at I ♡ Faces is “reflection”. I took this photo of Nora when she was about 8 months old. We were staying in a hotel it had a big mirrored closet door. I think it was the first time Nora played in front of a mirror. I couldn’t resist this one of her trying to eat the mirror

My friends over at I ♡ Faces are giving away a free Blurb photo book.
I love photography and I really love creating photo books to show off my photos
I have made a bunch of books to give to people as gifts. I have used Blurb in the past and they were one of my favorite companies. I love to make square books and they are one of the only companies that has square hard cover books.
They also have a cool application where you can download your blog and publish it in a book. When I first started this blog I heard about it, and it was one of the reasons I started blogging in the first place. I thought it would be a great keepsake for my kids. It will be fun for them to go back and read and get a glimpse of what our lives were like when they were little kids.
So, if you want a chance to win a $29.95 gift card to make your own book, just head on over to I ♡ Faces and leave a comment about which book you would make if you win. Easy peasy!

This week’s theme at I Love Faces was self-portraits. For this shot I had to take the photo and I had to be holding the camera when I took it. No tripods or anything else allowed. This week was a HUGE challenge for me.
I took a ton of photos to get a couple that I thought were decent. I really don’t like getting in front of the camera. I am much more of a behind the camera kind of girl. I am extremely critical of photos of myself. I just notice all my flaws.
I haven’t had much practice at this self portrait thing, so I wasn’t very creative either. I think I self portrait should show who you are. Mine really doesn’t show much about me at all. I’d love to take a shot that shows me playing golf or riding my bike. I’ll have to think about how to get a shot like that…..
Taking these photos was fun, though. It got me thinking more about taking photos of myself. I think I might want to practice taking more self portraits. I really want my kids to have photos of me with them. Right now I take tons of photos of them, but I am not in any of them. Looking through some of the other photos this week was really an inspiration. Some of the photos were awesome. Maybe with practice I can get some photos of myself with the kids that I actually like.
Here are my entries for this week:

I took quite a few photos today. Unfortunately, I didn’t get any that really jumped out at me. I did like this one of Nora. This was after the Easter egg hunt we went to. They had cupcakes for the kids. Just what she needed—more sugar!!

I just love this photo of my daughter and one of her best friends. I love how Emma is laughing with her eyes closed. I can just see how much these two love each other! I did two edits of this photo and I had a hard time deciding which one to use. One was more “natural” and the other more “edited”. My style is usually more natural, but I decided to go with the more high key edit for this photo. I like how it turned out, and I like that it is a little out of my normal comfort zone.

This weeks theme at I ♡ Faces is pouting. I have the most perfect photo of Emma. Unfortunately I didn’t take it, so I can’t enter that one.
I spent forever looking through my photos this week. I know that I have taken more pouting photos, but I couldn’t find any that I loved. I think I must have deleted them because they aren’t the kind of photos I usually like. I need to remember to save those too. They will be priceless someday when my kids are all grown up! I finally settled on this photo of Emma.
This week they also have a special pet category. I have posted this photo on my blog a few times, but I just had to enter this photo of Flora as a kitten.

This week’s theme over at i ♡ faces is No Flash. I took this photo of Emma a few weeks ago. I had my backdrop set up and was getting ready to do a little photo shoot of a friends baby. I asked Emma to sit there for a minute so I could get all my settings right. It turned out to be one of my favorite photos of her!
I decided to enter the adult category this week, too. I don’t have many good photos of adults. Last week I was at my mother-in-law’s house. My sister-in-law was sitting next to a window and the light was really nice. I snapped a few photos of her. I really like how this one turned out.

I took a great photography class this week. I learned some new tricks for editing portraits in Photoshop. I was excited to practice some of those this week. Here is what I came up with:

This week’s theme is Green in honor of St. Patrick’s Day. We had our annual St. Patrick’s Day party this past Friday. I made corned beef and cabbage and green beer. We all had a great time. Unfortunately, I didn’t take any photos. I was racking my brain trying to remember taking photos with green in them. I was so excited when I remembered that I had taken some of Nora last week! This was my favorite one.
