Last night was our annual St. Patrick’s day party. It was a lot of fun. We had a great turn out. There were a bunch of kids, and I think they all had a good time too.
I made corned beef and cabbage, like usual. It is still one of my favorite meals. I can remember eating it often growing up. Aunt Gert introduced me to Peas Pudding, and now I can’t have corned beef and cabbage without it. Aside from the corned beef, that is my favorite part of the meal. When I cook for St. Patrick’s day there are always people who don’t know what things are. I see people whispering to each other, wondering what things are. The rutabaga and the peas pudding always get strange looks–especially the peas pudding. I had so many people look at it and say “What is that?” trying to be nice, but looking disgusted. It’s funny! Quite a few people tried it last night and said they liked it.
All in all, I think the party was a success, and I’m looking forward to again next year!

Kerry, I always make corned beef and cabbage too… but I’m terribly interested in knowing how you do your rutabaga and peas pudding!!! If you get a minute, email me your recipes! That sounds SO YUMMY! Would love to add it to our tradition!
