Happy Halloween

Wow! It has been a blizzard for the last 2 days. I expected snow, but I thought we would only get a dusting. I haven’t covered the back porch furniture or put out the extension cords for the Christmas lights yet. Ugh. Covering the furniture is going to be fun–there is about 2 feet of snow on the deck right now. It is supposed to keep snowing for 3-4 days. I did get out the snowblower and snow blowed the driveway :-) It was fun! I always like to do that.

It was a bummer though, that it was snowing so hard, because it is HALLOWEEN! I wasn’t able to take Emma to Main Street, or out trick or treating. I did dress her up in her costume and put on her boots and let her go out in the snow. She had fun for a few minutes. This was the first time she got to walk around in the snow. She liked it! I am sure she can’t remember snow from last year. She was running up the sidewalk yelling Halloween, Halloween. It was adorable…she says it so cute!

We did go to the Grizzlies game tonight. Emma got picked to be in the costume contest, so I went down onto the ice with her. She didn’t win, but she liked going down there because she got to see the blimp–which she kept calling a balloon–and she got to touch Grizzbee. She wasn’t totally sure about him at first, but then she was smiling really big.

Scott is on crutches because of his sore ankle. We went to the doctors last night, because it had been a week and it seemed worse, not better. He is on crutches at least until tomorrow night when he is going back to see Chris Hayes. I hope it isn’t anything serious. Kathleen Thomas thought it could possibly be Gout. Scott is really worried about it being Gout.

It is tough with him on crutches. He can’t carry Emma, or anything else, so it is kind of hard on me. I was so tired after the game from carrying Emma everywhere. He stayed home from work today, which was nice. But, I had to help him do everything. I tried to help him stay laying down so he could ice and elevate his ankle. Hopefully it will get better soon!

I did some research about having a posterior baby, and what I could do about it now. I found some great sites and some good information. I have been working on the exercises, but they are so hard. I am supposed to get on my hands and knees for 20 minutes, 3 times a day. Also it said you could try sleeping on your tummy, using lots of pillows. I have been doing that, but I can’t stay in the same position all night. I start out that way, but end up having to turn onto my side. Then at about 2-3 am, my back starts to hurt and I really want to lay on my back. Ugh. That is the one position I am never supposed to lay in with a posterior baby. Last night I propped up lots of pillows and slept sitting almost straight up. It helped, and I fell back to sleep. I can’t tell any difference, though, in the baby’s position. He is still exactly the same. But, I’ll keep trying!

I sewed another diaper for Emma today. I am trying to perfect the pocket diaper, so it doesn’t wick. Today I tried not serging it, but just using the sewing machine with Gutterman poly thread. And, I used Stretchrite elastic, and made a casing instead of using lastin with the 3 step zig zag stitch. I think it came out well. I showed it to Scott, to show how close it resembled the Fuzzi Bunz I copied. He noticed that the fleece came out a tiny bit more at the legs on mine. At first I got mad that he was criticizing my diaper, but then I realized that he had a point. None of the fleece sticks out at the legs on Fuzzi bunz. The next one I make, I’ll be sure to pull the fleece in more when I topstich the elastic casing.

Well, it was a fun Halloween, despite the snow. I got some cute pictures of Emma in her costume both in the snow and at the Grizz game. :-)
