The first few days home with Ian have been really nice. He has been a great nurser! The first day home–Thursday–he slept a lot, and didn’t wake much to eat. But Friday he ate really often! My nipples are holding up OK, a bit sore but tolerable. The biggest issue is getting him to open his mouth wide enough. He just opens a little and wants to kind of “slurp” on. And…my engorgement. UGH! I am so huge, and hard, and sore. Yesterday it seemed to be a bit better, and today it is even better.
Friday Scott stayed home from work most of the day, and we took Ian to see Dr. Evers. He said that everything looked great. He was so happy to see us, and hear all of our news. It is really great to see a doctor who is so happy to see us. He was great! We came home, and Scott had to go to work, and the rest of us took naps
I needed it!
Saturday and Sunday we just relaxed most of the day. Saturday night I made Dava’s spaghetti sauce and Matt came over for dinner.
Yesterday we had a big day. We sold the Blazer in the morning! We got full price for it $5600. Then I got a cashiers check and paid off the Audi. It is great to have that done! Then I had to go to see Marcia at 1:30, and mom came with me. Then we went to the mall to drop off Dad’s sports jackets. I wasn’t going to go in with Ian, but then decided to just go to Nordstrom cafe to have lunch. Well, that turned into shopping and we stayed in SLC until almost 5:30pm! I was really tired, but it was fun to get out. I did great with both kids. I carried Ian in the sling, and pushed Emma in her stroller. It worked great.
I am adjusting really well to having 2 kids. I am feeling great, but I am a bit tired today from the big day yesterday. I am not feeling any baby blues at all! Yay. I was scared of that again, it felt so awful last time. Emma is being a great big sister. She is warming up to Ian. She says “want to see Ian” all the time, and likes to touch him. She is very concerned when he cries. She hasn’t wanted to hold him yet, but I am sure she will.
I have been trying to get Ian to sleep in his bassinet. Yesterday for the first time he did it for about 45 minutes, and last night I put him in there during the night for about 2 hours. He is sleeping there now and has been about 1 1/2 hours. Yeah! Little by little, I think he will get more used to it. I am NOT letting him cry in there though. If he doesn’t want to do it, he doesn’t have to! I will let him sleep with us, but it would be nicer if he would use the bassinet.
Mom is coming over in a little while to hang out with me today. We are just going to relax and maybe watch the Bachelorette that she hasn’t seen yet
