3 Weeks old!

Nora is 3 weeks today :-) We are pretty much settled now, and I am starting to get the hang of things. I am feeling pretty settled back into our normal routine. Yesterday I took Ian to his music class with Nora. I put her in the sling, and it worked great. She was happy the entire time, and I got to give Ian some one-on-one attention in his class.

Sleeping seems to be getting a bit better. Nora will sleep a little more without me holding her now–but she really needs to be totally asleep before I can put her down. I am happy with any progress ;-)

I have been a little concerned about her pooping and nursing. I still can’t get her to nurse for much more than 5 or so minutes. After that she either falls asleep, or just won’t latch on anymore. I am worried that she isn’t getting enough hindmilk. Her first week she gained 10 oz, but her second week she only gained 5 oz–still normal, but on the low end of normal. Up until about 4 weeks she should be pooping 3-4 times a day. She is going maybe once a day, but she went almost 3 days before she finally pooped during the night last night. I was expecting it to be bigger, but maybe she will go more today. I know that as she gets older it can be totally normal to go days without a bowel movement, but at this age, I think she should be going more. Tomorrow she has an appointment with Dr. Evers. I will see how much more weight she has gained, and then decide if it is a problem. I still have a nagging feeling that the tongue tie is causing problems and that is why she won’t nurse for very long…..

Yesterday we had about 32 trees planted in our yard. We went with Alex and picked them out at a nursery and yesterday planted them. We planted one pine, and all the rest deciduous trees. They are going to look great–especially along the pathway to the backyard. We planted a ton of small aspen trees there. I even got 2 spring flowering crabapple trees. I can’t wait to see them bloom!

Scott is going out of town today, and I am much less worried about it this week ;-) I know that we will all be fine!
